Nature of Award £15,000 per annum (tuition fees will be deducted annually, with the remaining amount given as a maintenance grant to candidate). Please note, overseas applicants will also be considered for the HCRI overseas bursary of £7300 per annum.

The Humanitarian & Conflict Response Institute (HCRI) in partnership with the British Red Cross and the University Hospital of South Manchester (UHSM) invite applications for a four year PhD studentship to conduct research on issues related to Skills Retention in the Voluntary Sector: acilitating Sustainable First Aid Training Nationally and Globally through the British Red Cross. The selected candidate will also contribute to research and programming at the British Red Cross offices.

Applicants for the studentship should hold or be expecting a First Class degree award, and/or a Distinction in a related Masters degree. Applicants who hold a good 2:1 in their first degree will be considered on merit. Applicants should include full details of any teaching experience or areas of expertise on their application form. Applications should include a 1,000 word research statement detailing the research they plan to conduct in reference to the project area. A minimum of 2 letters of reference must also be received by the deadline.
