PhD Studentships in Primary Care Research – Herbal Medicine

Applications are invited from individuals with a strong academic record who wish to develop a career in research.
Studentship in Herbal Medicine
We would be interested in an applicant who would wish to gain skills in the development of clinical trial methodology within either Chinese or Western herbal medicine with a view to using the PhD to conduct pilot work that would support a subsequent definitive clinical trial. We would also be happy to interview any potential candidates who may have their own PhD ideas that would be consistent with our departmental research interests.
Further information on the research strengths and track record of the group can be found at http://www.southampton.ac.uk/medicine/academic_units/academic_units/primary_care_population.page The group has strong links with health psychology, social statistics, health sciences, geography and computing sciences within the University and Students may be co-supervised by clinical academics in primary medical care and basic scientists in these disciplines. They will also be supported to develop national and international links, through existing collaborations, where appropriate.
Applicants from any health related scientific discipline with a good first degree or masters-level degree in a discipline relevant to the advertised studentship, will be considered. They will be expected to complete a PhD during the award period. Studentship awards include fees and an annual tax-free stipend of £18000.
