Mitch Faber Memorial Blues Guitar Scholarship, Musicians Institute, USA

The Mitch Faber Memorial Blues Guitar Scholarship was created to honor the memory, talent and artistic career of GIT alumnus (class of 1981) Mitch Faber; and is provided to encourage and support the educational growth of a newly enrolling Guitar Program (GIT) student.
The scholarship will be awarded in Fall 2012 to a new student (US or non-US citizens) enrolling in the Associate of Arts in Performance (Guitar) program who demonstrates overall outstanding musicianship, and the potential for developing their own individual sound or unique voice on the instrument in the Blues style.
The scholarship is applicable for students enrolled in the AA Guitar performance program only, and may not be transferred to “non- performance program” emphases (Audio Engineering, Music Business, Independent Artist, Guitar Craft, or Film) within an AA degree.
Award
$2,000.00 tuition credit ($1,000.00 per quarter for the first two consecutive quarters of the program as long as the recipient maintains satisfactory progress).
Eligibility and Conditions
Newly-enrolled AA (Guitar) students only. US citizen and non-US citizen. Awardee must maintain enrollment at 12 units (fulltime status) during the full length of award period. Failure to maintain enrollment and satisfactory academic progress in AA (Guitar) program for the full duration of the scholarship may result in withdrawal of the award.

Requirements & Checklist:

  • Complete a Mitch Faber Memorial Blues Guitar Scholarship application.
  • Submit a video recording (DVD format only) of you performing three (3) songs in the Blues genre on the electric and/or acoustic guitar. Applicants are required to include two (2) live ensemble (band or duo) performances, and one (1) guitar solo performance.
  • Newly-enrolled AA (Guitar) students only.
  • US citizen and non-US citizen.

Incomplete or late packages will not be accepted or returned. Scholarship awards are non-transferable.
Failure to maintain enrollment and satisfactory academic progress in AA (Guitar) program for the full duration of the scholarship may result in withdrawal of the award.
