The Biodiversity and Climate Research Centre (BiK-F) has been founded by the Senckenberg Gesellschaft fuer Naturforschung, the Goethe-University Frankfurt am Main, and additional partners. It is funded by the Federal State of Hesse through its Initiative for the Development of Scientific and Economic Excellence (LOEWE). The mission of the Centre is to carry out internationally outstanding research on the interactions of biodiversity and climate change at the organism level. The successful applicant will use bioinformatical methods for data mining of genome and transcriptome sequences for studying vertebrate evolution. The aim is to identify candidate genes that have been under selection during major past environmental changes. The candidate must hold a master or equivalent in bioinformatics, biology, genetics or a similar field of study.

The applicant should have some background and strong interest in bioinformatics, population genetics and/or molecular phylogenetics. Programming (PERL, PYTHON or related) and some molecular biology skills are essential assets for the position. Good written and oral communication skills in English and the willingness to learn some German are required.

Salary and benefits are according to a public service position in Germany (TV-H E 13, 50%). The Research Centre BiK-F advocates gender equality. Women are therefore strongly encouraged to apply.
